Jefferson National Forest encompasses 690,000 areas of picturesque Virginia forest. Sheridan Ridge is nestled in the western portion of this beautiful land. In fact, the Sheridan Ridge is bordered by National Forest on two sides.
In addition to the abundance of untouched, natural landscape, the National Forest also has several excellent areas to explore. The Mount Rogers National Recreation, which showcases Virginia's highest peak - Mount Rogers, is at the center of Jefferson National Forest's adventure. The National Forest offers 400 miles of maintained trails, including 60 miles of the Appalachian Trail, 18 miles of the Virginia Creeper National Recreation Trail and 67 miles of the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail.
